Kathy Keane’s passion for nature photography began in the 1970’s with her love of the outdoors and her career as a biologist specializing in endangered bird species. Over the past 30 years she has photographed the birds she has studied and the places she has explored, including the Sierra Nevada mountains, the Southern California deserts, and the rugged coast of eastern Baja. She’s also photographed the wildlife and scenery of Kenya and Tanzania, Costa Rica, the Hawaiian island of Kauai, the Galapagos Islands, and parts of Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.

Since 1980, Kathy has presented slide presentations of her photographs and travels to local Sierra Club and Audubon Society chapters. In 2005, she was encouraged by artist Ruth Olivar-Milan to join the Baja California San Felipe Fine Arts Association, which juried her work and invited her to participate in their annual Art Show. Her photographs have been exhibited in several art shows since then, and she has created calendars and large-format framed versions of her photographs.
